Jim Chick

Jim Chick is a Senior Account Manager with Atlas Management, LLC, the Atlas affiliate for United States Operations based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is responsible for managing a growing portfolio of captive insurance companies in both onshore and offshore domiciles while helping to build the staff and infrastructure to serve clients as Atlas expands its presence in the United States.   

Mr. Chick has thirty-four years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. He was most recently chief financial officer and treasurer of a mono-line workers’ compensation insurer offering both guaranteed cost policies and alternative market facilities for clients wanting to participate in the underwriting risk through their own segregated cell.     

Earlier, he was controller of a small mutual insurance company writing multiple lines, where he later handled the insurer’s agency plant of independent insurance agents. He was also co-founder and chief financial officer of an insurance holding company, which had subsidiaries operating as a managing general agency, an offshore, agency captive insurer, and premium finance company.    

He has insurance company operating experience as president and chief operating officer of Selective Insurance Company of the Southeast, responsible for the overall results of operations of this regional, multiple lines property and casualty insurer. Prior to that assignment, he had been vice president, secretary, and treasurer of this insurer, which followed a number of management assignments in corporate accounting, planning and budgeting, and investments and treasury.      

Mr. Chick began his business career in the financial control area of a major national bank. He has Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina.
