Elaine Tapp

Elaine Tapp is the Senior Account Manager at Atlas Insurance Management, and is based in the Cayman Islands. She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Glasgow University, Scotland and qualified as a CA with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 1997.

After qualifiying, Elaine continued in public practice for a short time, changed to industry with an electronics manufacturing company in Scotland, and then made the move to Bermuda in 2000 where she established herself in the rent-a-captive sector of the insurance industry.

Elaine joined Mutual Risk Management, a world leader at the time in insurance and Alternative Risk Techniques with more than 25% of the world rent-a-captive market on its books, and worked on a large portfolio of both corporate and agency programs. In 2002, the rehabilitation and subsequent liquidation of MRM’s sister companies and fronting carriers, Legion Insurance Company and Villanova Insurance Company, had a huge impact on the operations of the rent-a-captive companies and programs. Elaine was one of the few to remain in the department and became very heavily involved with one of the biggest insurance run-offs in history.

After 5 years with Mutual Risk Management, and laterally International Advisory Services who managed the run-off of the MRM rent-a-captive business, Elaine left Bermuda as Assistant Vice President of International Advisory Services in 2005. Following a one year sabbatical, she joined the Atlas Insurance Management team in 2006.
